“CHRIST’S DISCIPLE: How To Finish Strong”
Persuasive Writing and Good Company On Any Spiritual Journey! In “Christ's Disciple: How To Finish Strong” Robert expounds the benefits of following into Christ’s footsteps, and as any good Christian knows, the path is narrow, but the rewards are great ... Unfortunately, many in today’s fast paced and distracted times do not know the repercussions of not following such a higher path, towards love and peace, and overcoming everything within themselves that would block them from a better relationship with the All Mighty. But as long as believers don’t give up the battle, hope remains for better days ahead. Robert’s writing is concise and compelling, with many “Think and Grow” ideas at the end of chapters serving as reminders and action points to undertake, worth a read! —Michael Vincent Moore
In trying to be a good Christian woman, I am on a continuous journey of discovering and growing as to who I am in the eyes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of the main reasons I found this book so appealing is that I have unexpectedly already been on the journey to becoming the author's disciple in this book. Anyone who has read my blog will notice quite quickly that I'm definitely not complacent in the type of individual I'm striving to be. In addition, I am also not neglecting the importance of what I am doing in trying to be a good Christian woman. In this book, author Robert Lloyd Russell lays out the framework in becoming a disciple of our Lord; the framework takes the shape of a pyramid, where each level is dependent on the previous one in getting successfully completed before an individual can proceed to each consecutive level until the pinnacle of discipleship gets obtained. The simplistic style of the author's writing makes it an easy to comprehend [this] instructional guidebook [of the process] in becoming a disciple of the Lord instead of merely being a devoted follower. While, after reading this book, I might, in theory, already be a disciple, inwardly, I don’t feel if I'm ready actually to be one. For wanting to assist those interested in becoming a disciple in becoming one, I’m happy to [award] the book’s author, Mr. Russell, 5 STARS for his endeavor here. —Robin Leigh Morgan
Easy to Understand! I found this book to be an easy to follow and easy to understand guide to discipleship, which is simply maturing in our Christian-walk or spiritual growth. I loved the visual of the pyramid and building blocks to growth. It helped both to understand how each area of growth grows upon one another and helped to keep grounded in process. I also loved how everything taught was scripture based. Good book to explain process of spiritual growth. —D. Chatley

“GOD’S CHILD: Like A Tree"
This book is awesome. —Holly Tarr
The definitive work on Psalm 1. Mr. Russell has a tremendous gift for analogy. The most impressive thing is the way he has built off of existing undeniable Scriptural concepts. I am very impressed with his use of certain Scriptures, such as with regard to trees being deceptive in appearance. ... His work is very interesting, very clear, and intensely practical. —Ronald B. Allen, Senior Professor of Bible Exposition, Dallas Theological Seminary
This book is great. —Nicole A. Fischer
Parents, tend to your children’s Christian development as if they were trees. While my better half and I don't have any children due to an involved genetic condition, I love the analogy that Robert Lloyd Russell is making here. Once a seed is successfully planted, it starts to grow before it can see the light of day. Then both require constant nurturing, a tree until it's recognized as a sapling, a baby until it becomes a young child able to do things independently. A tree must be watered daily; otherwise, it might not survive. Likewise, young children need to hear their parents' words daily to learn things to thrive and develop properly into the Christians the Lord wants them to be. Young children are equipped to grasp and comprehend many new things through the repetition of things by their parents. Through the pages of his book, the author presents his readers with the step-by-step development of their child infused with Scripture and what they need to do with each one. And by doing this, he is assisting parents in complying with Lord’s command found in Deuteronomy 6:7 [NKJV]: “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” For wanting to assist Christian parents in raising their children in a Christian manner, I’ve given Mr. Russell 5 STARS for his endeavor here. —Robert Leigh Morgan, Top [Amazon] Contributor; True Crime Books

“GOD’S CHURCH: Christ's Pearl”
Updated version of “ONE PRECIOUS PEARL”
We have been Christians for over 40 years, but never have been so enlightened and enriched as we have been by the in-depth study of the One Precious Pearl. You have given us new meaning and insight. —Jerry & Maureen Shoop, Senior Pastor
Throughout this study there is a development of analogical thought, where the latent imagery of the pearl is made clear for the modern reader. Mr. Russell’s content is superior throughout. He has drawn on natural science and Biblical thought without violating either. I have learned a great deal about the concept of a pearl and have appreciated more the concept of the Church as the Pearl of Christ. —Ronald B. Allen, Senior Professor of Bible Exposition, Dallas Theological Seminary
I will never think of a pearl in the same light again. I absolutely love the way you have drawn a parallel between the pearl and the Church. This is inspired! —Elizabeth Hightower, Women’s Ministries Leader, Laurelwood Baptist Church
This is an excellent Bible study. In One Precious Pearl Mr. Russell really develops insights that I hadn’t appreciated before. He writes clearly so that the material is easily understood by both clergy and laity. It was very edifying for me to read. —William J. Peterson; Emeritus Senior Acquisitions Editor for Baker Book House and Fleming H. Revell, also serves on the Editorial Board and as a mentor for the Christian Writers Guild and as Senior Editor for Christian Book Publishers
I admire what you are doing and your way of putting it! Praise the LORD! — Loren Fischer, Senior Pastor
Expertly written... feeds the seeking and open mind... opens the closed heart... encouraging as it is enlightening... I can thoroughly recommend to all. —Reverend Colin (Wales)

“GOD’S DESIRE: How To Please God”
Updated version of “THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH”
I loved it. Very down to earth yet thorough. It was amazing. Down to earth guide to Christian growth. Comprehensive guide to God’s will for us laymen and laywomen. I wish I had this book 20 years ago. This book very thoroughly but simply lays out the sovereign, the general and the specific will of God for each Christian. The author uses models, or diagrams, to visually display that which is being explained and that makes all the difference. The models allow me to see the interactions between the various elements and serve as a memory jogger as well. This is a book I will be referring back to often. In fact, this is one of those books you should reread again every couple of years. I recommend this book to fellow Christians whether new believers or believers who have walked with the Lord for 30+ years like myself. I was especially enamored with the middle section dealing with the Christian Life Model. This is where the author lays out the details about the general will of God, which is really just an overview of the essential parts of living the Christian life. I have never read a better guide to the Christian life. —Debbie Chatley
This book is easy to read, easy to understand, and deals with substantial issues. I especially appreciate the way it places the understanding of God's will in the context of basic Christian discipleship —Pastor Mark Kelley
It is a great book with great illustrations and diagrams. It is very practical, easy to read and nicely presented and it will be helpful to many people. —Dr. Carl Laney, Seminary Professor
It is a great book! —Pastor Kevin Kruse
I was blown away by the book... exciting... a quality work. —Bill Davidson
I'd highly recommend it to anyone! —Linda Fraught
Very rewarding ... both the new Christian and seasoned Christian will find it instructive. The discussion on the sovereign, general, and specific will was very helpful. It is a wonderful book which will help people gain a better understanding of God's will, and help them to direct their energies and resources to achieve God’s calling. —Ed Osmond
This is absolutely great! It is a must for any Christian to understand and apply these elements that make up the balanced Christian life! May God be the force behind this manuscript in getting it out to all believers! —Dan McCauley
I'm taking my time reading it. I love the way you've used so many Scriptures references in it. —Genevieve Summy
The acrostics are so meaningful. I am going through the book slowly as a Bible study. —Jeannette Anderson
This timely book equips Christians to find tangible answers to difficult questions in one of the most trying times of our nation’s history. It would make an excellent Bible study. —The Northwest Book Reviewer, Christian News Northwest
The book is well-organized and easy to navigate. Well-balanced and supported by Scripture, the author’s thoughts, rooted in God's Word, direct, encourage and entertain. —Book Review, The Cypress Times The author writes simply yet profoundly. While there are many written works on knowing the will of God and Christian decision making, this is by far the best I have found. —Book Review, About.com I found myself marking “good” beside many sentences and paragraphs throughout the book ... he does a fine job of explaining each component ... impressed with the ease of the read and the soundness. —Christian Book Notes by Terry Delaney

“GOD’S NATURE: Sonlight Sunlight"
Updated version of “GOD LIGHT”
There is a tremendous need for a book on this subject. We have witnessed the publication of many books around the statement “God is Love,” but I cannot recall ever seeing one around the statement “God is Light.” It is important that these two attributes of God be brought into conjunction with each other because it is really impossible to discuss love intelligently without understanding light ... First there was Tozer with “The Knowledge of the Holy,” and then Packer gave us “Knowing God,” and now Russell has taken us further. —Dr. Radmacher, General Editor of the Nelson / New King James Study Bible and Chancellor of Western Seminary
This powerful, thought-provoking book inspires as it amazes. Both scripturally and scientifically, Mr. Russell shows how the secrets of our universe are intimately connected with light and how light remarkably unlocks the truth about all things. While the author skillfully weaves his way through Scripture and countless scientific theories, we can’t help but realize that God is light, that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was the light of the world, and that we are children of light. And at every point of our reading journey through this book, we see the true vastness of creation. The book is set up invitingly, and the remarkable parallels of Sonlight and sunlight are clearly expressed. One seldom finds a scientific, Christian book so deeply researched and so well written. I would definitely recommend this book. —jeanluc
It is must reading. —Richard C. Halverson, Chaplain, U.S. Senate
He obviously is hitting on all twelve cylinders! What an exciting insight into Christ as the Light of the World. Thank God for people like this who have the background to illuminate some of these Biblical concepts. —Dr. Joe Aldrich, President, Multnomah Bible College & Biblical Seminary
I was utterly fascinated ... I am impressed with the work that you have done, with the directionality it has ... I do believe that you have an important message which could be greatly used of the Spirit of God in the world today both among the Christian community and in pre-evangelism of the world. —Ronald B. Allen, Th.D., Professor of Hebrew Scripture at Dallas Seminary
The content is terrific ... This is a timely book ... There is so much content that many other books and articles could be written from small parts of it. —Dr. Freeman L. Schmitt, Senior Pastor
I got so involved in the subject and read with such great interest that I had trouble reading it critically for accuracy. —Maury J. Merrick, Optics Consultant (Technical Reviewer)
I find it most inspirational. I can't profess to knowing anything of physics, never having studied the subject; but the explicit way in which you describe it all – I feel I am able to understand ... You make the reader think, and that is a great talent. —Evelyn Cox, homemaker
I loved the book Sonlight / Sunlight! ... It is very well written and very understandable. Without seeming condescending or talking down to anyone he gets the point across. The Josh McDowell book, “Evidence That Demands a Verdict,” is good too. ... as soon as I finish it I plan on reading “God Light” again. It's definitely the better of the two. —Bob G., inmate
I read this book slowly, probably more slowly than I would have liked. I wanted to allow each chapter to sink in. I have anything but a scientific mind! I found myself saying out loud, “Wow, that's amazing,” many times. I worked through the technical only to be thrilled by the application at the end of each chapter. The parallel of God and His Son to the sun is brilliant! I know it’s in God's Word but you have brilliantly (yes, I said it again) explored His message and made it meaningful to an “un-brilliant” person such as myself! You have opened my eyes to the light around me. Yesterday, as I looked at the clouds casting shadows on the earth, I thought of the truths you have taught me. I look at ordinary things differently. I have already used many of the truths in my mentoring and find myself sharing your thoughts in everyday conversation. Thank you for the hours you spent in writing and the years you spent in developing this transcript. I love your teacher's heart and your heart after God. You are a blessing! —Elizabeth Hightower, Women's Ministries Leader
A book which draws compelling parallels between natural and spiritual light. The author introduces us to profound Christian truths, offering a direct invitation to reflection. Are you ready to think and grow? God is Light This is the inspirational statement on which the entire book is based. We dive into the universe of religion, discovering a series of short essays about light, both spiritual and physical. After reading each chapter, it is practically impossible not to fall prey to reverie, and think about your own take on life and how much light influences daily existence. I liked how the author described his work as “broad strokes of a brush," leaving it up to the reader to build on the original premise. Here we have a book that offers plenty of opportunities for personal study, prayer, and meditation. If you are looking for something to lift your spirit, read the beautiful poem the author’s five-year old granddaughter has written. Not surprisingly, it is entitled “God is Light”. Physical light versus spiritual light “Will it be light or dark in Heaven?” This is the question the author’s daughter asks one day, and one I believe we have all asked ourselves. I enjoyed how the author has used anecdotes from his daily life as starting points for the discussion regarding physical and spiritual light. The wealth of detail included in this book is astounding, whether we are talking about details concerning light as a physical phenomenon, or spirituality as the very thing that guides us through life. It is true that we have yet to fully comprehend how light affects us, despite the many theories proposed throughout time. God is the only source of light, the author tells us, and by accepting this fact, we will enjoy a spiritual life. He is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient, and the “key to understanding either physical or spiritual light” is to observe what it can do. We cannot deny the dualistic nature of light, and it is a good thing we are aware of its presence – like many other things in life, it invites us to think about the mystery of our existence. Throughout the book, the author approaches many important themes, including death and immortality. I liked the idea that the spiritual light coming from God brings man out of the darkness, and how the author quoted Plato to remind us the real tragedy is when we become afraid of the dark. Verdict: A beautiful book, which invites the reader to reflect on the influence of both physical and spiritual light. The author has done a great job in presenting a deep analysis of religious elements, but I also liked the introduction of theories about life and the numerous anecdotes borrowed from real life. The final line of the book sums the reading experience to perfection – “Are you walking in the light or just living in the light?” —Alexandra Antipa (Germany)

“JIM ELLIOT: Recorded Messsages"
Updated and Expanded version of "JIM ELLIOT: A Christian Martyr Speaks to You"
This book contains the actual words of martyred missionary Jim Elliot in six messages which he spoke before going to the mission field. The first two messages were given to seventh and eighth grade students and are about Christian living including the effect of sin in the life of a Christian. The final four messages are also very readable - one about the Apostle Peter and the other an overview of the Bible from the perspective of Jesus Christ as God the Father's ultimate and final prophet on earth. Excellent thought-provoking content for seventh grade and up. Particularly good for anyone interested in missions, missions history, or victorious Christian living. —10 out of 10 stars, Building Rainbows book review
I read this book alongside my eighth-grade son. Too many books written for teens seem to talk down to them or minimize issues. They tend to focus on issues such as getting along with peers or parents, self-esteem, or behavioral goals. (Purity, dating issues, etc.) Jim Elliot spoke to my son about spiritual desire and delighting in God. He discussed sin and its effects on the body and soul of a Christian. He did a character study on Peter, and also discussed Christ as a prophet. These are subjects of depth and meat that are not often placed in front of teens. We had several discussions about topics brought up in the book, and I think it encouraged my son to reach for a higher standard of spiritual discussion, not merely settling for simple topics. This book is one I would recommend. I enjoyed reading Mr. Elliot’s talks and discussing the material with my teen, and appreciated the depth of the material! —The Old Schoolhouse Magazine book review
Jim Elliot was one of the five martyred missionaries in the 1950s. The work of these five and their deaths have had a tremendous impact on thousands of Christians. Many related books have been written, but this is only the second book which contains the actual words of Jim Elliot. (The other is The Journals of Jim Elliot.) I would highly recommend this book to all Christians who seek a closer relationship with Jesus Christ—especially those in junior high through age 40. It will positively impact lives. The book provides great insight into the thinking of Jim Elliot and also provides a lot of notable and quotable material. Anyone interested in Christian history or Christian missions will really appreciate the book. I do have a warning. This book was transcribed from old wire recordings (which predated magnetic tape) and it was a different era when Jim was alive. Jim Elliot was on fire for God and had a fervency which was rare then, and even more rare today. He was a true student of the Word of God and it shows in his messages. —About.com book review
The life and death of Jim Elliot is a story very familiar to believers around the world. Books have been written and movies made about the men who gave their lives in obedience to God's call in 1956. Robert Lloyd Russell’s book is not a book about Jim Elliot. It is, in a sense, a book written by Jim Elliot. As Mr. Russell explains in the opening chapter to this book, his family was well acquainted with the Elliot family when Mr. Russell was growing up, and he remained close to Jim Elliot’s mother after Jim’s death. In 1971, Mrs. Elliot gave Mr. Russell several recordings of talks Jim had done in 1950 and 1951. Mr. Russell transcribed the tapes, and compiled the transcriptions into a book. The book is intended to be read by anyone 7th grade and older. Two of Jim Elliot’s talks were to classes of 7th and 8th graders in a Christian School. The other four talks were primarily to audiences of adults. The book is primarily transcripts of Jim Elliot’s talks. The introductory chapter established how Mr. Russell obtained the tapes, and provided a bit of background to them. —Hillary Harm, The Home School Magazine
A truly inspiring book for all Christians of all ages and all maturity levels, which will deepen their daily walk with their Lord. —Staff Writer, Church News
One of the best theological and inspirational books I have read. —Brian Fraught
This book contains Jim Elliot’s own words in six messages which he spoke before going to the mission field. Jim was one of the five missionaries martyred in Ecuador in 1956. The work of these five missionaries and their deaths have had a tremendous impact on thousands of Christians. Since their deaths over twenty books have been written about these men, their deaths, and the follow-up events. The editor of this book is a friend of the Elliot family and knew Jim personally. This book makes Jim Elliot’s own words available to everyone. The first two messages were given to seventh and eighth-grade students and concern Christian living, including the effect of sin in the life of a Christian. Another message, based on 1 Peter 1:3, examines the life of the Apostle Peter. The message “God’s Prophet” traces the history of God’s prophets through the Old Testament and ends with God’s ultimate prophet—His own Son Jesus Christ. All of these thought-provoking messages are particularly appropriate for anyone interested in missions, missions history, or victorious Christian living. My favorite portion of the book is the clear explanation of our need for a desire for God and the effects of sin on the life of an individual. In summary, this book provides great insight into the thinking of Jim Elliot and also provides a lot of quotable material. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for anyone who is interested in a more fulfilling Christian life. In my opinion, it should be on the reading list of any Christian who seeks a closer relationship with Jesus Christ—especially those in junior high through age 40. It will positively impact their lives! —The Christian Book Club book review
